RELAY · TERMS OF USE
Use Relay thoughtfully, and respect the people in every room.
These Terms govern your use of Relay, including anonymous guest sessions, registered accounts, rooms, messages, and future features made available through the service.
Accepting these Terms
By using Relay, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with laws and rules that apply to you.
Your identity and account
Relay gives each participant a short Unique ID. You can use the service as a guest or choose to create or upgrade to an account through email and password or Google sign-in. A guest session is tied to the browser session and its stored data; it is not a promise that the session can be recovered from every device or browser.
Keep any account password and private-room password confidential. Do not impersonate another person, falsely claim a Unique ID, or use an account or room without authorization.
Rooms, visibility, and moderation
Public rooms are discoverable in Relay. Private rooms are not listed in Discover and require the exact room name and password. Sharing a room name, invitation, or password is your choice; Relay cannot control what a participant does after receiving access.
Hosts and moderators may change room settings, remove members, or ban members. Guests can join and chat but are not eligible to become hosts or moderators. A room host can delete a room, and rooms without active members can be archived automatically.
Content and conduct
You are responsible for the messages, names, and other content you add to Relay. Do not use the service to:
- harass, threaten, exploit, or impersonate another person;
- post unlawful content or content that infringes another person’s rights;
- try to bypass room access controls, security checks, or rate limits;
- interfere with Relay, scrape it in a way that harms the service, or use automated activity that degrades other people’s access; or
- share information you do not have the right to share.
By posting content, you give Relay the limited permission needed to store, transmit, display, and process that content to operate the chat service. You remain responsible for having the rights needed to post it.
Messages, retention, and availability
Relay keeps messages as part of room history. Empty rooms are archived, and deleting a room removes it from the active product, but it does not promise instant erasure of every historical record. Anonymous guests inactive for about 30 days may be removed from their active room memberships while the room’s message history remains.
Relay is provided as an evolving web service. Features, availability, and storage behavior can change, and temporary outages can occur. Keep your own copy of anything important; Relay is not a backup service.
AI boundary
Relay currently has no connected AI provider. Site-assistant and AI-user controls are placeholders for a future feature and do not currently read a room, generate replies, or transmit messages to an AI provider. If that changes, Relay will update the relevant notices before or when the feature becomes available.
Third-party services
Relay uses Vercel to host the web application and Supabase for cloud authentication, database, real-time delivery, and service functions. Google participates only when you select Google sign-in. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy notices.
Changes to Relay or these Terms
Relay may change, suspend, or discontinue features as it develops. We may update these Terms to reflect material changes to the service, legal requirements, or safety needs. The latest version will be posted at this address, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Nothing in these Terms promises that Relay is suitable for high-risk, emergency, or confidential communications. Use another service when you need those assurances.
